The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has expressed concern over the health of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, asserting that his life is in danger.
According to IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, Kanu urgently needs medical attention outside the Department of State Services (DSS) custody, where he is currently held.
Powerful suggested that Kanu might be experiencing internal bleeding due to alleged torture while in DSS custody.

In a statement, Powerful stated, “The global family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) raise an alarm over the precarious health situation of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu needs urgent and specialised medical emergency treatment to avert serious outcomes.”
The statement further claimed that Kanu’s medical complications in DSS solitary confinement may be a result of torture, including alleged drug overuse and abuse by DSS personnel.
IPOB urged the Nigerian and British governments to release Kanu on medical grounds for independent medical professionals to attend to him and potentially perform necessary surgery.
IPOB emphasized that if anything untoward happens to Kanu, who they allege is being held illegally by the Nigerian government, there will be severe consequences.
