The Anambra State Chapter of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to take a decisive action to end the menace of the Boko Haram sect.
The Vice-President of the council for Anambra State, Alhaji Dauda Ajagu, who made this position known in an interview with journalists in Onitsha on Thursday, also urged the President to adequately equip the army and other security agencies in the country to bring an end to the insurgency.
The Council also condemned the bombing of the Kano Central Mosque and said the time had come for President Jonathan to take-off the kid gloves on urgent national issues and face the insurgents squarely.
He stated, “The perpetrators of the dastardly act are not only trying to drag the name of the country in the mud, they also want to scuttle the 2015 general elections.
“We appeal to the Federal Government to arm the Nigerian Army and other security agencies helping to keep peace in the country to bring the activities of the senseless insurgents to an end.
“We are also calling on Muslims and Christians and traditional religious groups to join hands through their prayers for unity and peace, progress and stability of the country to ensure free and fair conduct of 2015 general elections”.
