The officer, who was traveling with his wife and children from Damboa to Biu for Eid break, was abducted after inadvertently taking a banned route.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad, the officer and his family were abducted by suspected ISWAP operatives around the Shokotoko general area, approximately 73 kilometers south of Damboa.
While the wife and children were later released by the abductors, the police officer was reportedly executed by the terrorists.
The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region and the dangers faced by security personnel and civilians alike.
