Brazil midfielder, Frederico Rodrigues de Paula Santos has said he is aware of a “strong bid” from Manchester United, as he edges closer to a £52.5million move to Old Trafford.
The 25-year-old player also admitted that a move to Manchester City fell through in the January window.
Fred is due in England this weekend, when Brazil fly in for a pre-World Cup friendly against Croatia at Anfield and it’s understood that he is on stand-by to undergo a medical.
“Talks have been at an advanced stage since January,” he said.
“There was a possible transfer to City. Shortly after, both clubs, City and United talked with Shakhtar and with my agents about a possible transfer.
“If I am not mistaken, there was news of a strong bid by United.
“My agents are taking care of this, led by Gilberto Silva. He’s a very calm guy and someone I deeply trust.
“It’s an honour to be on the radar of great European coaches. They are two great coaches from Manchester, as well as our national head coach.
“I believe I have a versatility on the pitch and I’m a multi-skilled player, being able to play in both midfield positions.”
