One of Nollywood’s finest actresses, Idowu Phillips, popularly known as Iya Rainbow, has added a year to her age and she is waxing stronger, with no signs of slowing down.
Born in 1942, she clocked 74 on Sunday, October 16.
Iya Rainbow trained and worked as a certified nurse for several years before she fully ventured into acting.
She became a prominent figure in the Yoruba section of Nollywood after the death of her husband, Hubert Ogunde in late ’80s, and the Ijebu-Ode native remains one of the most respected actresses whose motherly roles in movies are close to perfection.
She lost one of her five children, Lola, to ulcer in January 2016, while her son, Femi Philips, is a movie director.
Apaadi, T’Oluwa Lase, Owo Blow, Ase N Tedumare are some of the movies the septuagenarian has featured in.
