A prominent political figure, Iyiola Oyedepo, has criticized the current administration in Kwara State, accusing it of failing to provide good governance and direction.
Oyedepo, a former member of the Kwara State House of Assembly, made the remarks during the launch of a new socio-political initiative tagged the *Kwara Redemption Movement* (KRM) at a press conference held in Ilorin over the weekend.
Speaking at the E-Phonix Hotel, GRA, Ilorin, Oyedepo said the KRM aims to address the perceived lack of equity, justice, and fairness in governance and resource distribution in the state.

He clarified that the movement is not a political party but a platform to mobilize citizens to elect competent leaders in the 2027 general elections.
“The Kwara Redemption Movement is a socio-political movement designed to sensitize the people to elect leaders who can make a meaningful difference in governance,” Oyedepo said.
He emphasized that the group consists of academicians, civil society members, professionals, and politicians committed to restoring quality governance in the state.
Reflecting on the state’s history, Oyedepo lamented the decline of institutions and industries established by Kwara’s founding fathers.
“Despite being among the first generation of states created in 1967, Kwara has failed to fulfill its potential.
Many economic ventures, schools, and agricultural projects set up by our predecessors have collapsed due to poor leadership, especially in the third and current republics,” he said.
Oyedepo, a key figure in the 2019 O to ge movement that ushered in the current administration under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, expressed disappointment with the performance of the leaders it helped install.
“The leaders who emerged from the O to ge revolution have failed to provide the necessary direction for good governance. The revolution’s vision has been hijacked and betrayed,” he said.
He explained that the O to ge movement did not achieve its intended goals because the beneficiaries abandoned the ideals that inspired it.
“We built the pillars of O to ge to bring about meaningful change, but those who inherited its gains did not share our vision. As a result, the revolution was aborted, and the dream was derailed,” Oyedepo stated.
He further criticized the administration for excluding citizens from governance and failing to ensure equitable distribution of amenities.
“The KRM is not a political party but a vehicle to raise awareness and inspire the people to elect leaders committed to justice and equity in 2027.
The time is ripe for a new generation of political leaders who will ensure that everyone contributes to, and benefits fairly from, the common resources of the state,” he said.
Oyedepo called on the people of Kwara to support the movement, urging them to join the campaign for inclusive governance and fair resource distribution.
“We need leaders who will foster participation and ensure that the state’s resources are equitably shared. Together, we can redeem Kwara,” he concluded.
