Contrary to reports that Nigerians governors have reconciled, the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) under the leadership of Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau state has denied it has reconciled with the Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State-led NGF.
A statement released in Abuja and signed by the Secretary and Administrator of the Jang-led Forum, Osaro Onaiwu, noted that any such reconciliation attempt was futile, seeing that majority of the governors will be out of office in a matter of days. It is therefore proper to leave issues of reconciliation, reorganization and a new Chairman to the incoming governors.
According to the Jang-led NGF, the purported reconciliation is a selfish attempt by a group of governors to force new leadership of the forum on the incoming governors.
It noted that both the Chairman, Jonah Jang and his Deputy, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo state along with the majority of the governors under the Jang-led Forum were visibly absent because they did not consider it a priority to be part of a selfish project coming in less than two weeks to the end of the tenure of most governors.
