FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya says the appointment of Honour Janza to lead the Chipolopolo technical bench provided an opportunity for local coaching experts to demonstrate their ability to lead the Zambia national team and continue on the path of development for the 2012 Africa Cup winners.
Janza, the Football Association of Zambia’s Technical Director, was installed boss of the Chipolopolo following the departure of Patrice Beaumelle early this week. Beaumelle took over the Zambia job when new Ivorian coach Herve Renard left the Zambia post after the 2013 Nations Cup finals. He opted not to renew his contract beyond 31st July 2014, opting for another challenge.
Kalusha reckons Janza has the necessary attributes to carry on from where Renard and Beaumelle left off stressing that the 48-year old elite CAF instructor “had the requisite credentials to excel in-charge of Zambia”.
Said Kalusha; who is also Executive Committee of the continental soccer governing CAF: “Honor Janza is the indicated one to lead the Zambia Technical Bench. It is also an opportunity for a local coach to show what he has learned in the last 5 years associated with Herve Renard and company.”
Kalusha said the challenge to lead Zambia was huge because Chipolopolo was a continental giant with enormous expectations.
“It is a huge challenge, but we believe Janza has the credentials to excel. Chipolopolo has a massive following with huge expectations among our very passionate fans and followers. We are confident that the whole Zambia will rally behind the team, as always, and support Janza and the boys,” Kalusha added.
Janza’s immediate task is to get the Chipolopolo together for next month’s 2015 Nations Cup qualifiers at home to Mozambique on 6th September and away in Praia against Cape Verde on the 10th of September.
