The Jigawa State House of Assembly has passed into law the N901.8 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill and N288 billion Local Government budgets.
The passage followed the adoption of the report of the House Committee on Appropriation, presented by its chairman, Hamza Ibrahim Adamu.
The 2026 budget, tagged “Budget of Innovation and Transformation for Greater Jigawa II,” was earlier presented to the Assembly on November 25, 2025.

It places strong emphasis on capital projects, which account for 77 per cent of the total budget, as well as education, which received over 26 per cent, and agriculture, in a bid to drive development across the state.
Announcing the passage of the budget during plenary, the Speaker of the House, Aliyu Dangyatim, said the appropriation bill was approved as presented, with a total sum of N901.841 billion.
According to Dangyatim, capital expenditure was allocated N693.4 billion to stimulate infrastructure growth and economic development in the state.
He noted that the 2026 budget represents a 19.2 per cent increase over the 2025 budget, reflecting the state government’s commitment to innovation and progress.
The Assembly commended Governor Umar Namadi for prioritising innovation and transformation in the fiscal plan.
“This budget aligns with our vision for Jigawa,” Dangyatim said.
The Speaker assured that the legislature would continue to work closely with the executive to ensure effective implementation of the budget.
