The Jigawa State Hisbah Board has reiterated that the importation, sale, and consumption of alcohol remain strictly prohibited in the state.
Commandant of the board, Ibrahim Dahiru, made the disclosure on Thursday while speaking with journalists.
He stated that the decision is part of the state government’s broader initiative to reform the board and curb social vices in the region.

As part of its ongoing operations, the Hisbah command recently seized 78 cartons of assorted alcoholic beverages in Kazaure Local Government Area.
The alcohol was confiscated from three beer parlours during an early morning raid.
Ibrahim confirmed that no arrests were made during the operation, as the suspected owners of the establishments fled before the arrival of Hisbah officers.
The commandant emphasized that the Hisbah Board would continue to enforce the alcohol ban and apprehend violators.
He further disclosed that the seized items would be taken to court for legal proceedings.
