The Jigawa State Government has approved the reinstatement of Aminu Kanta, the suspended Commissioner for Commerce and Industries.
This decision was confirmed by the Commissioner of Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Sagir Musa Ahmed, during a briefing with newsmen after the State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Umar Namadi.
The suspension of the Commissioner for Commerce was due to allegations of misappropriation of funds for the Ramadan feeding program in Babura Local Government.

Following the suspension, a committee was set up to investigate the allegations.
Ahmed explained that the council deliberated on the findings of the committee, which revealed that the problem with the Babura feeding program arose from the contractor’s erroneous judgment.
The main food vendor was found to be disbursing funds per ward instead of per center, leading to a 50% reduction in the cost of feeding at each center.
The committee also noted that the problem was not identified early due to poor supervision by the suspended commissioner.
However, the balance of the unspent 50% was recovered and returned to the state government’s coffers.
Following the committee’s findings, the council recommended the lifting of the suspension on the commissioner.
The reinstatement was unanimously approved by council members, and the commissioner is now reinstated to his position.
