In appreciation of their fight against Boko Haram, any Nigerian soldier who flies Air Peace will not pay more than N10,000, Barrister Allen Onyema, Air Peace Chairman and CEO has said.
Onyema, who is also the founder of Foundation for Ethnic Harmony in Nigeria (FEHN), a non-governmental organisation, which has been instrumental to the embrace of non-violence in different parts of the country, said this Tuesday, as his airline launched in Lagos, with seven aircraft that will fly to Abuja, Lagos, Enugu, Port Harcourt and Owerri.
The airline came with a promise to provide comfortable and safe flights to Nigerians, while also laying the foundation for the entrenchment of peace and development of the aviation sector.
“The era of devilish competition and devilish envy in the aviation industry in Nigeria should remain in the past,” said Onyema at the launch.
He added that the airline was paying special attention to safety and has therefore contracted one of the world’s best maintenance organisations, BT Aviation Maintenance Company in the United Kingdom.
“To ensure that nothing is left to chance, we have also equally signed a Powered By Hour (PHB) contract with the world’s biggest PHB vendors, AJ Walter of United Kingdom for supply of aircraft spares,” Onyema added.
Air Peace, according to him, has also signed a five year deal with Flyth Solutions incorporated in Canada for the installation of Automated Flight Information Reporting System (AFIRS) on all its aircraft for flight tracking and engine trend monitoring.
“This system has already been installed to all our aircraft,” Onyema affirmed, adding that in partnership with IATA, Flight Scape Inc of Canada will provide effective flight data analysis.
Air Peace commences its operations from Lagos, with its first official flight on Friday 24 October.
