Jimi Agbaje Is Still With Us – PDP

Jimi AgbajeThe Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has refuted reports that defeated Lagos State governorship candidate for the party, Jimi Agbaje had exited the party.

Femi Fani-Kayode and several others recently disclosed that Jimi Abaje had left PDP just 14 days after losing to Babajide Sanwoolu in the election.

Fani shared on twitter, “First it was Musiliu Obanikoro, then Iyiola Omisore, then Gbenga Daniel and now Jimi Agbaje. All my closest friends and brothers are abandoning ship and leaving PDP! Ouch!”

However, PDP’s Lagos State secretary, Prince Muiz Dosumu described the reports as a complete fallacy.

His words, “This is to disclaim the rumour going round that our governorship candidate, Mr Olujimi Agbaje, has left the PDP. This is an absolute fallacy and could only have happened in the imagination of the rumour peddler,” he said.

Mr Jimi did not win in any of the state’s 20 local government areas and finished with 206,141 votes while Sanwo-Olu, a former commissioner, polled 739,445 votes.

Agbaje, who has now lost in triple governorship polls, gave the excuse of the low turnout of voters for the election being bad for democracy, especially in a state with the highest number of registered voters.
