The umbrella body for northern Muslims, Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), has described the recent spate of bombings in Abuja, Borno, Adamawa and Kano States as worrisome.
The body, in a statement signed by the Secretary General, Dr. Khalid Aliyu Abubakar, and made available to journalists in Kaduna yesterday, urged Muslims to intensify prayers as Ramadan approaches for peace to reign.
The statement said: “We condemn in the strongest terms these barbaric acts that tend to reduce humanity to a renegade level. While commending the security agencies for the arrest of the suspected culprits in Kano and Abuja’s episodes, we strongly urge them to always be proactive through gathering relevant information that will assist in the use of modern equipment/gadgets as used elsewhere in the world.
“We also advise members of the public to be security conscious at all times and not to relent in saying their prayers. We commiserate with the government and people of Adamawa, Borno, Kano States and the FCT for these incidents. We especially condole amilies of the victims and pray that peace and security will be restored to Nigeria”.
