The joint forces of 114 Battalion (Rear) of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security units, have successfully eradicated multiple bandit hideouts in Taraba State. This operation led to the rescue of four kidnapped individuals.
According to Lieutenant Oni Olubodunde, the Acting Assistant Director of 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, the mission, which commenced on February 2, 2024, aimed to restore peace in the Yorro Local Government Area and its surroundings.
The troops engaged bandits at Gampu hills and Ban Yorro area, using superior firepower that compelled the criminals to abandon their hideouts, leaving behind the previously abducted victims.
Olubodunde stated that the ongoing operation is focused on locating and reuniting other individuals who fled during the exchange of fire.
Among those successfully rescued are Genesis M Samuel (24) from Ganku village, Benard Denis (28) from Fulfualgon village, Esther Titus (35) from Kosanai village, and Isma’il Umar (25), the son of the Emir of Pupulle, who was abducted from his residence on January 18, 2024.
Highlighting the commitment to citizens’ safety, Olubodunde affirmed that the Brigade would continue its efforts to dismantle criminal infrastructure in Taraba State.
