Members of the Joint Task Force (JTF), in collaboration with local hunters and vigilantes, have arrested two injured bandits and their unlicensed doctors during a coordinated raid on a criminal hideout in Aherin-Bunu community, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd.), disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing journalists on the successful operation.
According to him, the security team acted on credible intelligence that two bandits who sustained gunshot wounds during an earlier encounter with security forces were receiving medical treatment from fake doctors in a remote settlement.
“We received intel that two bandits were receiving treatment in a settlement in the Aherin-Bunu community. We swiftly deployed security personnel and arrested the two wounded bandits, along with the fake doctors treating them,” Omodara said.
He warned that the state government would not tolerate anyone aiding or providing shelter to criminal elements, stressing that such collaborators would face the full weight of the law irrespective of their social status.
“Anyone perpetrating, abetting, or collaborating with criminals will be dealt with, regardless of their status,” he warned.
Omodara further revealed that the combined security team demolished the bandits’ camp, including a makeshift clinic, and destroyed farmlands and food items belonging to the criminals.
He assured residents that the Kogi State Government remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while intensifying efforts to rid the state of criminal activities.
