West Bromwich Albion winger James McClean has said Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is “a bit of an idiot” after the sides’ 2-2 draw on Sunday.
Klopp did not shake West Brom boss Tony Pulis’ hand after his team had claimed a late point at Anfield thanks to Divock Origi’s deflected shot.
In a competitive game, Klopp saw defender Dejan Lovren stretchered off following a strong challenge by Craig Gardner.
The German said of Pulis at the weekend: “No. I didn’t see him after the game. I can’t say anything, because I only talk about football.
“Maybe I can’t remember — I’m not the best, with the biggest talent to remember things like this.”
McClean, who played the full 90 minutes at Liverpool, is quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying: “I’ve got a lot of respect for the man because he done a great job at Dortmund
“But I think he is a bit of an idiot to be honest on the game on Sunday. Win, lose or draw you have got to be respectful.”
Liverpool are ninth in the Premier League table and next in action against Watford on Sunday.
