Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (Kaduna Disco) has pledged to replace outdated and faulty meters in its network to improve service delivery and customer satisfaction. The company stated that the initiative is part of its ongoing efforts to enhance billing accuracy, reduce energy losses, and promote transparency in its operations.
A spokesperson for Kaduna Disco explained that the replacement program would focus on upgrading old meters with modern, smart metering systems that provide real-time data and enable more efficient energy management. These new meters are expected to enhance customer experience by eliminating issues such as estimated billing and meter tampering.
The company also announced plans to roll out the program in phases, with priority given to areas with high incidences of meter-related complaints. “We are committed to ensuring that our customers pay only for the electricity they consume. The new meters will help us achieve this goal while improving operational efficiency,” the spokesperson stated.

This move is expected to address long-standing concerns among consumers about inaccurate billing practices, which have been a source of frustration for many Kaduna Disco customers. Industry experts have praised the initiative, noting that it aligns with the broader goal of modernizing Nigeria’s power sector to improve service delivery and reduce the gap in electricity access.
As part of the upgrade, Kaduna Disco also plans to invest in customer support systems to ensure smooth installation and troubleshooting of the new meters. The company’s leadership remains optimistic that the replacement program will contribute to a more reliable and transparent electricity supply for its customers.
