The Kaduna Good Governance Forum (KGGF) has urged former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, to allow his successor, Uba Sani, to focus on restoring peace to the state.
In a statement signed by Comrade Richard Amos, the Forum condemned what it described as El-Rufai’s harassment and distraction of Sani’s administration, accusing him of attempting to rewrite history and position himself as the ultimate authority in Kaduna State.
The Forum also criticized El-Rufai for allegedly threatening Sani with the 2027 general elections, insisting that only the people of Kaduna have the right to decide their next leader.

El-Rufai, Sani at Odds After 2023 Election
El-Rufai had backed Sani, who previously served as his Special Adviser on Political and Intergovernmental Affairs, to succeed him as governor in the 2023 election.
However, their relationship soured shortly after Sani assumed office.
Currently, the Kaduna State House of Assembly is probing El-Rufai’s administration at the instigation of Governor Sani.
KGGF Supports Probe, Calls for Accountability
The KGGF expressed full support for the ongoing investigation into El-Rufai’s tenure, alleging that his administration left behind a legacy of insecurity and corruption.
“We urge El-Rufai to desist from any further threats and allow the current administration to continue its work in restoring peace and unity to Kaduna State while focusing on how to explain the theft of Kaduna State funds under his watch,” the statement read.
The Forum further alleged that El-Rufai’s past policies contributed to the security crisis in the North-West, claiming that his suspected role in sponsoring terrorism should be a subject of serious investigation.
“This potential to undermine the security of the state and the whole of Nigeria is enough reason for the authorities to speed up identifying and prosecuting the aides he used to steal and launder Kaduna State’s money,” the Forum stated.
It also called on security agencies to take the probe beyond El-Rufai’s aides and extend it to the former governor himself.
“This malfeasance and his suspected role as a terrorist sponsor must be the core of the security report that ensured he was not confirmed as a minister, even though President Bola Tinubu magnanimously nominated him as one,” the statement added.
The Kaduna Good Governance Forum concluded by urging El-Rufai to accept his status as a retired politician and cease efforts to manipulate public perception about his tenure.
