Christian clergy joined Muslim clergy at the Kaduna Stadium on Wednesday to celebrate Eid-el-Maulud, the anniversary of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
Church leaders were led by Pastor Yohanna Buru, General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry.
He explained that the move was made in the hopes of promoting harmony between the country’s Muslim and Christian communities as well as greater religious tolerance and mutual understanding.

Buru stressed that the Maulud festival gave Christians and Muslims a chance to meet each other and have meaningful conversations about how to foster peace and harmony in Nigeria.
Buru, joined by pastors George John, Maxwell Sanda, Gabriel Stephen, and Rowland Sanda, spoke of the need for people of all faiths to come together and celebrate in order to foster national unity and harmony.
He explained that for more than a decade, Muslims in northern Nigeria had invited Pastor Buru and other Christian clergy to commemorate the birth of the Holy Prophet together.
We are all God’s creation and descended from the same parents, Adam and Eve. The Bible and the Qur’an, both inspired by the same God, teach us how to coexist peacefully and kindly with one another.
He spoke during the event, urging people of all faiths and backgrounds to accept one another, forgive, and work together for the betterment of the country.
Buru reportedly expressed concern over the rising murder rate, banditry, kidnappings, and ethno-religious crises in Nigeria and called on Nigeria’s Muslim and Christian communities to pray constantly for the country.
