Kaduna State’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is upset with Governor Uba Sani’s appointments because they have been too biassed.
In a statement released Wednesday night, the party’s State Publicity Secretary Abraham Alberah Catoh said, “In particular, the recent publication of the list of fourteen commissioners-designate, in which certain sections are either shortchanged or completely not represented smacks of mischief and confirms the unfortunate claims of the immediate past governor of the state, Mal. Nasir Elrufa’i, of a grand plan to shortchange and or exclude a certain section of the population.”
The party also complained that the nominees’ home municipalities remained secret in an apparent effort to cover up the egregious imbalance in appointments.
The PDP has stated its commitment to the principles of equity and justice by arguing that fairness must be established as a precondition for unity, peace, and progress in the state.
The PDP has called for the government to withdraw the list, apologise, and ensure balance in all appointments and projects across the state in accordance with the federal character as enshrined in the 1999 constitution (as amended), which the PDP has condemned as reminiscent of the Nasir El-rufa’i era.
As the PDP and its governorship candidate pursue their mandate in the tribunal, the party has urged the good people of the state to stay calm, hopeful, and faithful in prayer.
Once the court restores the party’s mandate from the free governorship elections held on March 18, 2023, the party pledged the people of the state that it would reinstate an inclusive government and governance.
