The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested no fewer than 183 suspected criminals following a series of coordinated raids on identified criminal hideouts and black spots across the state.
The operation, according to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, is part of ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure the protection of lives and property.
Hassan disclosed that the crackdown, led by Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in metropolitan areas such as Rigasa, Kawo, Tudun Wada, Sabon Tasha, and surrounding communities, resulted in the recovery of dangerous weapons and illicit drugs.

“The operation is aimed at restoring public confidence and improving internal security,” Hassan said in a statement. “Among the items recovered during the raids were 30 bags and approximately 1,600 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, along with other dangerous weapons.”
He added that on June 13, 2025, police operatives raided Rigasa and recovered large quantities of suspected illicit drugs. Later the same day, at about 11:45 p.m., residents of Rafin Guza discovered a bag containing an AK-47 rifle magazine loaded with 31 rounds of live ammunition. The bag was reportedly abandoned during a police chase of suspected criminals.
Hassan stated that investigations are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects, assuring that those responsible will be apprehended and prosecuted.
In a related development, on June 9, 2025, around 11:00 a.m., operatives from the Kakuri Police Division, acting on a tip-off, posed as buyers and arrested a 35-year-old suspect, Ziya Abdullah, while he was attempting to sell a suspected stolen vehicle. The arrest led to the capture of his alleged accomplice, Bashir Usman, also known as ‘Yellow.’ The duo reportedly confessed to robbing a residence in Gona, where they used knives and cutlasses to steal a Honda Accord car later recovered in Zaria.
The PPRO revealed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang who are currently at large. Some of the suspects arrested during the operations have been charged to court, while others remain under investigation.
DSP Hassan assured the public that all suspects found culpable would be arraigned in court in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, reiterated the Command’s commitment to sustaining the fight against crime in the state. He urged residents to continue providing credible information that would assist security agencies in their operations, assuring them of sustained peace and security across Kaduna State.
