On Tuesday, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, governor of Katsina State, presided over the oath-taking of four new high court judges.
Nuraddeen Abdulmumini, Halima Lawal Bagiwa, Abdullahi Bara’u Faskari, and Maa’ruf Amiru Sanusi are the four new judges.
Radda claims that their hiring following a stringent and careful selection procedure is justified by their impeccable track records of expertise, unyielding determination, and honesty.

He told the newly appointed judges that their position was a sacred calling that required whole devotion, unflinching professionalism, and uncompromising moral principles.
At the same time, Radda used his speech to deliver a stern order to the State Administration of Criminal Justice Monitoring and Coordination Committee, instructing them to properly handle all criminal cases.
In light of the increasing number of cases in which suspects were released despite significant charges, Governor Radda has tasked the state courts with the responsibility of careful case management.
Radda voiced concern over the granting of bail to suspected kidnappers, terrorists, armed robbers, and rapists, saying that this contributed to an increase in kidnappings, abductions, and the tragic loss of innocent lives, and highlighting the importance of holding the legal fraternity accountable.
Radda also noted that some members of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, seemed to be using the banner of basic human rights for their own ends, and he cautioned that such behaviour must not be allowed to derail the State’s efforts to maintain law and order.
Katsina State Administration of Criminal judicial Law of 2021 and Katsina State Penal Code Law of the same year are being revised by Governor Radda to improve the state’s judicial system.
