The first son of late Super Eagles captain and coach Stephen Keshi has arrived in Nigeria to arrange the burial rites of his father who passed away last week.
Stephen Keshi Junior, who bears the same name as his late father, came into Nigeria alongside Victor Ugoh who is a close friend of the late coach.
The 27-year-old, who is an events planner based in the United States, revealed that he isn’t aware of any burial arrangements for his late father, stating that he is shocked that someone had fixed a date for the burial.
“I just came into Nigeria on Tuesday night, and we read in the papers today that somebody has fixed a date for the burial,” he told thenff.com.
I am shocked like my sisters and my brothers. Since our father died, nobody has spoken to us about how he died, and we have not even seen his corpse. Yet, someone is fixing a date for his burial,” he added
Keshi Jr also thanked Nigerians for the love shown to the family since the death of their father, adding that he is grateful for the kind words and eulogies that have poured out from the government and people of Nigeria.
“I cannot thank everyone enough. We have only heard good and great words about our father since his death. I am going to Benin City now,” he said.
The family will sit down and come up with a date for the funeral, but we also appreciate that he was a national figure and will harmonise our plans with that of the Government and the NFF.
“Our father was a loving family man and we will miss him greatly. Our joy is that he left a worthy legacy for Nigeria football and for his family.”Keshi Jr added.
The Former Super Eagles coach died last week in Benin City, Nigeria, shortly after complaining of chest pains.
