Nasarawa State Governor Umaru Al-makura has vowed that those who killed the head driver of the state Government House, Abdullahi Mairuwa will not go unpunished.

Mairuwa was assassinated on Saturday by gunmen who reportedly told his wife they had been sent to kill him.

Al-makura who visited the spot where his driver was shot dead, decried the incessant killings and attacks along Lafia-Obi-Keana road. He therefore pledged to beef up security in the area.

The governor also took time out to visit Keana to commiserate with the family of the deceased. He was received by the the traditional chief of the area and the senator representing the constituency.

Al-makura, while urging the family members to accept the incident as an act of God, described the death as unfortunate and a great loss to the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Mairuwa, who died at 57, lost his life as a result of gunshot wounds he sustained after gunmen attacked him on his way to Keana from Lafia on Friday.

He had since been buried according to Islamic rites.
