Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka (Muri), the candidate for governorship of Kogi State on the ticket of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has dismissed rumors that he may withdraw from the election.
The denial is a response to rumors that began circulating online on November 3, 2023, regarding a letter of withdrawal that never existed.
According to a statement that was issued and signed by the General Director of New Media.
Isaiah Davies Ijele, the head of the MuriSam Campaign Council, declared that the letter was “false and baseless,” adding that it was the product of “miscreants” and the “sinking ship” of the party that is currently in power in Kogi State.
Ijele further claimed that Ajaka is “the candidate of the people” and “cannot stand down for anyone at this moment in time.
It also accused the party in power in Kogi State of attempting to turn the opposition party, the SDP, against the ADC, and it emphasized that the people of Kogi State do not want the ruling party to continue in office because of allegations of poor administration during the past seven and a half years.
The spokesperson for the SDP, on the other hand, urged members of the public in general and their supporters in particular to dismiss the bogus letter of withdrawal.
The following is what the statement says: “On November 3, 2023, a forged letter of withdrawal started making its rounds on the internet.” According to the letter, Ajaka had officially dropped out of the election and given his support to Yahaya Bello, the candidate representing the APC. It was claimed that Ijele and Unekwu had signed the letter, but these assertions are complete and utter fabrications.
Elections for the position of governor of Kogi State are set to take place on November 11th, 2023.
