Manchester United over the past couple of years
have invested in their midfield and that’s maybe not
an area they’ll look to strengthen again come the
summer. Louis van Gaal needs to look at his defence
and surely will as the next transfer window
approaches. If the Dutchman does decide to add in
midfield over the next few years then there’s already
several candidates who look the likeliest.
.
Paul Pogba is linked on an almost daily basis and
Kevin Strootman’s arrival at Manchester United is
seen by some as inevitable, despite his continuing
struggles with fitness. Atletico Madrid’s Koke is
another name which has been repeatedly linked. The
Spanish international has been an important part of
his local club’s success and on Friday Marca have a
lengthy interview with him.
.
There was no way Marca were going to speak to Koke without asking about a potential move and they pinpoint Manchester United and Barcelona interest specifically, wanting to know what the chances are of a transfer. Koke doesn’t sound like he’s itching to get out of the Atletico door but he does leave the possibility open, as long as it benefits Atletico and is their decision “Hopefully the team keeps growing and gaining things. It may never come, but if the club needs to sell, like with Torres, we would speak. (Now) The club does not need me to go and I don’t want to
go.”
.
Koke is obviously happy where he is but if Atletico do
need a golden egg laying, and that time will likely
come at some stage over the next few years, then the midfielder is one of the prime candidates.
