Newly-crowned Afcon winner, Kolo Toure, believes the current Ghana team will soon win Africa’s biggest football prize, too.
.
This crop of Black Stars players came within a penalty shootout of breaking Ghana’s 33-year wait for silverware but Toure’s side emerged victorious on Sunday.
.
“Our generation has been looking for this trophy and we have missed out on it twice in the final,” noted the veteran defender.
.
None of that vaunted ‘golden generation’ symbolises the victory better than goalkeeper Boubacar Barry, who was the hero on the night of the 2015 Afcon final.
.
Toure, who plays for Liverpool, observes that Ghana’s team have so many good years ahead of them.
.
“I think for Ghana it’s the second one as well. Maybe the next one will be better for them because they have really good players and they are also very young.”
.
The next African Cup’s hosts are yet to be decided by the Confederation of African Football.
