INEC has declared the Kuje Area Council chairmanship and councillorship elections inconclusive.
The Returning Officer for Kuji Area, Zainab Gbefwi disclosed that the election ended up with that outcome because of the electoral violence in Rubochi.
She noted that because of the violence, the elections in that area and some polling units in Kwaku and Kabihas had to be shut down.
She also said election materials were tampered with and and some ad hoc staff sustained injuries.
Her words, “After collation, there was no obvious winner since the aspirant with the majority votes had one-quarter of two-thirds of the votes cast.
But the difference between the candidate with the majority votes and the next candidate is very small as compared to the number of registered voters and votes cancelled.”
She then said that elections would be rescheduled in Kabi, Kasa, and other polling units affected.
