Gov. Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano on Friday swore in, Justice Patricia Mahmoud, as the Acting Chief Judge of the state.
Patricia, who is the second woman to serve in that capacity, succeeded, Justice Shehu Atiku, who retired on Friday after attaining the statutory retirement age of 65.
Kwankwaso urged the chief judge to endeavour to reinvigorate the state judiciary by ensuring justice for all and sundry in the state.
The governor assured her of the support of the executive and legislature, adding that the three arms of government needed to collaborate to achieve their objectives.
Responding, Patricia thanked the governor for giving her the opportunity to serve the state.
The chief judge said she would carry out her assignments without fear or favour to every individual and institution in the state. (NAN)
