The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party has given the green light for the sale and submission of expressions of interest and nomination forms for the Edo State election.
The sale of forms is scheduled to run from January 25 to February 11, 2024.
This decision was communicated in a communiqué issued by Obiora Ifoh, the national publicity secretary of the party, following the NWC meeting held in Abuja on Wednesday.

According to Ifoh, the Labour Party has waived the payment of the expression of interest form fee for female aspirants.
He stated, “Arising from the meeting of the NWC of the Labour Party under the chairmanship of Julius Abure, the party’s leadership took a far-reaching decision on the Edo election.”
Key highlights of the decision include the approval for the sale of forms to all interested aspirants from the state who are Nigerians or residents in the state.
The expression of interest form will cost five million naira, while the nomination form will be priced at twenty-five million naira.
The Committee has also approved indirect primary elections, with ward and local government congresses set to elect the party’s flag bearers.
Aspirants will undergo screening on February 14, while the primary election is slated for February 22. Any disputes or appeals arising from the primaries will be addressed on February 23.
The Labour Party’s decision sets the stage for the upcoming Edo State election, signaling the commencement of the electoral process for interested candidates.
