Labour Party Asserts It’s the Only Platform for Peter Obi’s 2027 Presidential Bid

The Labour Party (LP) has asserted that it remains the only platform capable of ensuring Peter Obi’s victory in the 2027 presidential election.

This statement was made by the National Vice Chairman of the party, Ayo Olorunfemi, during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, monitored by reliable media outlets.

Peter Obi, who ran for the presidency under the Labour Party in the 2023 election, has been under pressure from some members of his Obidients support group to leave the party, which has faced internal crises since the elections.

However, Olorunfemi dismissed these calls, stating that true Obidients would not suggest Obi leave the party.

“Well, I will just use the word delusional for those pressing for such; they are delusional. Some people can overreach themselves. The true Obidients out there won’t advise Peter Obi to leave the party,” Olorunfemi said.

“You have the true Obidients, the student unions groups, the youths of Nigeria, the hardworking people of Nigeria, who are tired of what is going on in Nigeria.

People are tired of hunger. Which political party will he go to? To go back to PDP, APC, or where?”

He emphasized that the Labour Party is based on ideology and that it is the only suitable platform for Obi to pursue the presidency in 2027.

“This is a political party that is based on ideology; we are social democrats here.

The people that put this political party up are social democrats, and that is entrenched in the constitution.

So, the only place for Peter Obi to win the election in 2027 is the Labour Party, and we are preparing for that,” Olorunfemi added.

Olorunfemi also expressed confidence in the leadership of the party under Julius Abure and stated that the Labour Party would emerge stronger from its current crises.

He mentioned that the party leadership would work towards peace and reintegrating the Lamidi Apapa camp into its fold.

According to Olorunfemi, the former Anambra State governor remains the best president Nigeria has yet to have, and he expressed hope that, by the grace of God, Obi will emerge victorious in the 2027 elections.
