The Labour Party (LP) has expressed concern over the economic hardship affecting Nigerians, which it says has prevented some citizens from fully participating in the 2024 Christmas celebrations.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the LP’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, the party’s National Chairman, Barr. Julius Abure, highlighted this challenge in his Christmas message to Nigerians and party supporters.
Abure called on Nigerians to show compassion to the millions living below the poverty line.

“It will interest you to know that not many homes in Nigeria can afford to join in today’s celebration of Christmas because of the economic challenges Nigeria is facing today,” he stated.
He urged citizens to extend love and support to those in need during the festive season.
“I am using this opportunity to task the society to show love to a neighbour who may be in one form of lack or the other,” Abure said.
Reflecting on the significance of Christmas, Abure reminded Nigerians of the sacrificial love demonstrated through the birth of Christ.
“God so loved mankind that He had to sacrifice His only begotten son that we may be redeemed. What a sacrifice.
Today’s celebration cannot be complete until we begin to allow the significance of the birth of Christ to manifest in our lives,” he added.
The Labour Party urged Nigerians to embody the spirit of love, unity, and selflessness, especially during this season of giving.
