Daniel Asama of the Labour Party (LP) has emerged victorious in the House of Representatives rerun election for Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, held last Saturday.
The Returning Officer, Prof. James Garba, declared Asama as the winner after he secured 66,422 votes, defeating his closest rival, Mohammed Gwani of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), who received 61,670 votes.
In a similar development, the Action Democratic Party (ADP) candidate, Prince Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang, has been declared the winner of the Plateau North senatorial rerun election.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Nestor Chagok, announced that Prince Dachungyang garnered 122,442 votes, defeating Yakub Muhammad Safiu of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), who received 53,980 votes.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Christopher Musa Giwa, secured 39,132 votes, while Barr. Gyang Zi of the LP received 33,243 votes.
These rerun elections were ordered by the Court of Appeal in Abuja, which cancelled the initial election of PDP’s Musa Agah and Sen. Simon Mwadkon, directing for a rerun within 90 days.
It is noteworthy that the PDP was excluded from the ballot paper by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), citing the court’s judgment.
