Lagos State Government has inaugurated the Apex body of Community Development Associations (CDAs) in the State i.e. the Community Development Advisory Council (CDAC).
The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola who was represented by the Commissioner for Rural Development, Honourable Cornelius Ojelabi at the inauguration urged the new council to operate a transparent government and make accountability their watchword …“you must be ready to render account of your stewardship at all times…..” he said.
He noted that elections and appointment to the Executive council of the CDAs, CDCs and CDACs will now be based strictly on performance and nothing else.
Ojelabi said the new Exco is coming on board at a sensitive and difficult time in the history of the State where the baton of administration in the state will be changed urging the new executive to be up and doing and have a master plan for the operation of the CDCs and CDAs which they are to supervise.
The commissioner also implored them to interact and interface with the members of the State House of Assembly representing their various communities regularly on their needs for easy processing with the executive.
The Chairman of Mainland Local Government, Honourable Oladele Adekanye whose Local Government produced the Chairman of the Advisory Council congratulated the new Exco for having Alhaji Tajudeen Quadri as their Chairman.
He said the new Chairman is a man of integrity, highly diligent and a good team player whom he said would perform beyond expectations adding that he was at the event together with his Vice Chairman Honourable Omolola Essien and his Council Members because of Alhaji Quadri.
The Chairman of Yaba LCDA Hon. Olajide Jimoh said all the newly inaugurated council members are committed grassroot people who are bound to succeed in their new assignment adding that they are people of integrity who were prepared and ready to put in their best.
The member of the House of Assembly representing Lagos Mainland II, Hon. Olarenwaju Oshun assured the newly inaugurated Executive members of the House of Assembly support at all times.
He said, the House of Assembly is very conversant with the workings and importance of the CDAs, CDCs and CDAC in the development of the State and therefore will be ready to assist them urging them not to hesitate to call on the House anytime the need arose as the House of Assembly will be ready to fight their cause.
The outgoing Chairman, Prince Gabriel Awomodu in his valedictory message, advised the New Exco to continue with the work done by the last Exco promising to be available to share his wealth of experience with them.
The new Chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Adeniji Quadri promised on behalf of his 26 Member Exco to continue from where the old Exco stopped and do everything possible to make Lagos continue to excel and be the envy of other states.
He promised to use his tenure with his Exco members in ensuring that all CDCs perform better in their various CDAs by bringing out the best in the CDC Executives in all the 57 LGAs & LCDAs in the State.
Present at the ceremony were Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Mr. Babatunde Hunpe, Vice Chairman of Mainland Local Government, Mrs. Omolola Essien, State Coordinator of Neighbourhood Watch, Alhaji Musiliu Sanni, Past Chairmen of CDAC in the State, CDC Exco in the 57 Local Governments and LCDAs and a host of other CDA members.
