The Lagos State Police Command announced the arrest of 2,176 suspects between September 2024 and January 2025 for various offenses, including murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, and cultism.
Commissioner of Police, Olanrewaju Ishola, disclosed this during a press briefing on Saturday, highlighting the Command’s achievements over the period.
Breakdown of Arrests

Murder Cases
- Uber Driver Murder: Four suspects — Emeka Akwara (19), David Segun (21), Samuel Ariori (21), and Lukman Ariori (19) — were arrested for allegedly killing an Uber driver on January 9.
- The suspects ordered a ride from Chevron in Lekki to Obalende, where they robbed and fatally stabbed the driver.
- Two suspects were apprehended by passersby at the scene, leading to the arrest of the remaining two.
- Recovered items include a Toyota Camry AGL 650 HN and knives. The victim’s body was deposited at Mainland Hospital, Yaba.
- Another Uber Driver Murder: Three suspects — Edmond Julius (34), Abdullahi Umar (32), and Saturday Oke (40) — were arrested for the September 12 murder of another Uber driver, Oluwaseyi Fowler.
Cultism
- On October 15, two Aye Confraternity members, Samuel Ojenuga and Abdullahi Yusuf, were arrested for alleged murder.
Armed Robbery
- Gang Arrests:
- A syndicate led by Fatai Lawal (a.k.a. Bullet) was smashed on September 28. The gang operated along the Ijora-Isashi axis of Badagry Road.
- Another gang led by Godwin Chukwuma (23) and Solomon Balogun (23) was also arrested.
- Traffic Robbery: On November 22, Oguche Sylvanus (27) was arrested for robbing commuters using an unregistered Faragon bus along Ikorodu Road.
Kidnapping
- Victim Rescued: On October 23, two kidnappers — Hassan Samson (35) and Segun Akinola (27) — were arrested in Era, Ojo, and their victim rescued unharmed.
- Five other suspects were arrested for abducting Azeez Olosa at a dredging site, with the victim successfully rescued.
Firearm Recovery
The police recovered firearms abandoned by fleeing suspects in several operations.
Commissioner’s Statement
CP Ishola reiterated the Command’s commitment to fighting crime and maintaining safety in Lagos. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to law enforcement.
