The Lagos State Government has reported that fire outbreaks resulted in 82 casualties and property losses amounting to N25.37 billion.
This was disclosed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Gbenga Oyerinde, in a statement on Monday.
Oyerinde stated that the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) successfully rescued 376 victims and preserved property valued at N152.22 billion.

“Fire safety officers from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) successfully rescued 376 victims and preserved property estimated to be worth N152.22 billion.
The ministry regrettably recorded 82 casualties and property losses worth N25.37 billion,” Oyerinde said.
In an effort to enhance fire safety infrastructure, Oyerinde noted that three new fire stations are nearing completion in Ijegun-Egba, Satellite Town, and Ijede.
Additionally, an ultramodern workshop at the Alausa headquarters is close to completion to support the maintenance needs of the agency’s fleet.
He also mentioned that land has been identified for the development of additional fire stations in Ibeju-Lekki and Ifako-Ijaiye.
