Liverpool remain serious about the acquisition of Basel forward Mohamed Salah before the close of the transfer window, but the Egypt international may be the club’s only signing this month.
.
According to the Daily Mail, Reds manager Brendan Rodgers will meet with club owners later this week to discuss the funds available to him but may have to wait until the end of the season to land a number of targets.
.
Rodgers is reported to be in the market for reinforcements at full-back, in midfield and up front but the finances are unlikely to stretch to cover all of these positions during the current transfer window.
.
The most likely signing remains that of Salah although there is sizeable difference in valuation between the two clubs. Basel are reported to have requested £16 million for the 21-year-old, but Liverpool are only prepared to pay around half that amount.
.
Rodgers outlined at a press conference this week that he wants more goals from his attacking midfield players, most notably Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling, and Salah could add to the threat from these positions.
.
Salah has scored 10 goals in all competitions this season, including two in the Champions League, while he also found the net 10 times last term.
