FRIDAY@MakerFaire adds to the calendar of events for Maker industry allies as part of “Maker Week,” the week before the Faire that’s full of local Maker-related activities, meetups, and celebrations, including MakerCon, May 12-13, the conference by Makers for Makers.

“Maker Movement partners and supporters, as well as educators and the media, have been asking us to add Friday to the agenda, and we’re now able to do it,” said Sherry Huss, vice president of Maker Media and co-founder of Maker Faire. “FRIDAY@MakerFaire will give industry innovators and leaders more direct time with Makers to explore the latest projects and advancements in making, creating more opportunities for doing business and continuing to propel the movement forward. This is a great chance to preview the event ahead of the busy weekend. We’re really happy to be able to offer this special industry access day.”

Italian Trade Agency Debuts at Maker Faire Bay Area 2015 to Host Italy’s Maker Pavilion

The Italian Trade Agency (ITA), Italy’s government agency for trade and promotion, supported Maker Faire at the New York event and now debuts in the Bay Area as a Goldsmith Sponsor, extending its support of the Maker Movement during the event’s 10-year anniversary celebration. ITA will be showcasing its Makers Italia project at Maker Faire Bay Area 2015 in its “Italian Makers Pavilion.”

As a natural progression of Italy’s long history of arts, crafts, and embedded industrial systems of industry clusters, Italy has a strong Maker scene now developing within the country. With the ITA mandate to provide an accessible platform for people to experience firsthand the invention, creativity, and resourcefulness of the Italian Maker Movement, participating in Maker Faire Bay Area 2015 as a key sponsor is the ideal way for ITA to highlight these makers.

Faire goers are encouraged to take advantage of this firsthand opportunity to meet the Italian Makers who will be ready to share their passion for making and inspire everyone to make things themselves. Real-time updates, information, and details on Italian Makers can be found at the Italian Trade Agency’s site, http://www.makersitalia.com.

The ninth annual Maker Faire Bay Area welcomed some 1,100 makers and 130,000 attendees. World Maker Faire New York, the other flagship event, has grown in five years to 830-plus Makers and 85,000 attendees. Atlanta, Detroit, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Orlando, Paris, Rome, Oslo, Newcastle (UK), Tokyo, Trondheim, Silver Spring and Shenzhen host our “featured” Maker Faires (200-plus Makers), and community-driven, independently organized Mini Maker Faires inspire and ignite creative communities everywhere around the United States and internationally.
