Malawi stunned DR Congo 2-0 away in Kinshasa on Friday to book their place in the final round of the qualifiers for the 2015 Orange CAF U-20 Championship.
A goal each from Isaac Kaliyati and Chawanangwa Kawonga ensured the Junior Flames marched on a 3-1 aggregate.
The Congolese were highly favoured to go through managing a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture in Blantyre two weeks, rather it was the visitors who really turned up for the occasion.
The Junior Flames went up on 11 minutes through Kaliyati and Kawongo doubled the lead five minutes before half time. The visitors defended the two goals gallantly to edge out the Congolese.
Malawi will face the winner of Zambia – Mozambique for a place at the final tournament.
Seven teams will emerge from the qualifiers to join hosts Senegal for the final tournament scheduled for 8-22 March 2015 with the semi-finalists qualifying to represent Africa at the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.
