Former Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has announced his retirement from active football.
The Serbian defender recently ended his nightmare stay at Inter Milan after both parties mutually agreed for a contract termination.
Vidic joined Manchester United in January 2006 where he won five Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy.
He made just made just 28 appearances for Inter Milan last season before he left the Serie A giants.
It was reported that he was interested in a move to the MLS but in a statement released via the United website, Vidic said: “The time has come for me to hang up my boots. The injuries I have had in the last few years have taken their toll.
“I would like to thank all the players I have played with, all the managers and staff I have worked with, and say a big ‘thank you’ to the fans for their support over the years.”
