Manchester United have confirmed that Adnan Januzaj’s year-long loan at Borussia Dortmund has been cancelled and he will return to the club.
Januzaj, 20, who has three years left on his current United deal, struggled to make an impact at Dortmund since joining the German club in the summer transfer window and sources confirmed that talks were underway to end his loan prematurely.
The Belgium international made just six appearances for Dortmund, for a total of 165 minutes, and did not establish himself in Thomas Tuchel’s first team, while he was told he will not figure in the plans for the second half of the season either.
A statement on the United site read: “Adnan will rejoin the first-team squad immediately. He has returned to Manchester in order to clarify the details,” while Dortmund also confirmed the news on their official website.
