President of Atletico Madrid Enrique Cerezo has ruled out the sales of star forward Antoine Greizmann to Manchester United claiming that the player wants to remain in the club.
Manchester United are said to be monitoring Griezmann’s situation at Atletico as they prepare another world record bid.
Reports from some quarters even suggest that the France international has agreed on personal terms with Manchester United.
Atletico president Cerezo has however shut down the reports by claiming that the player is loving life at the club.
“Every time I see Antoine I give him a hug,” Cerezo told Spanish national radio network COPE.
“Antoine is a fantastic player and loves life at Atletico.”
“I don’t know what Manchester United’s interest is. But Griezmann will be at Atletico for a long time.”
Griezmann has a £86million release clause which Manchester United are set to pay to bring the 25-year-old to Old Trafford.
The former Real Sociedad forward is reportedly interested in the move which will see him get the N0. 7 shirt at Manchester United like his idol David Beckham.
His image adviser, Sebastien Bellencontre admitted that following Beckham’s footstep in wearing the No. 7 shirt of Manchester United might be too tempting for Griezmann.
“When I read articles on a hypothetical transfer to Manchester United, I have to say this would be the ideal scenario in marketing,” Bellencontretold So Foot.
“He would play for the same club as Beckham, his idol, with the same legendary No 7 on the back.”
