Signing Kylian Mbappe does not guarantee Real Madrid another Champions League trophy this season, Sergio Aguero has said. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, even if it would be silly to count Real Madrid out when it comes to the UCL, only Mbappe cannot make the difference to guarantee them such a huge trophy.
Aguero added that many clubs are vying for the UCL this season, so a lot of teams will fight tooth-and-nail for it.
His words, “Nobody’s ever been able to count Real Madrid out. No need to say that. Mbappe joining them only serves to make them a bigger threat. I think he’s a shoo-in to be La Liga’s next Pichichi (top scorer). Nevertheless, a single player doesn’t make the difference. The team does. There’s many of those vying to take the Champions, and they’ll fight tooth-and-nail for it.”
On the change in the UCL format, “We’ll have to see how it plays out. The changes are major, it’ll be hard to get used to them. I’m sure we’ll have more to make a solid judgement in due time.”
