Controversial Mr. Joseph Mbu has resumed duty as the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of the Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos.
AIG Mbu wasted no time in reading the riot act to the police officers and men under his command as well as to the general public, advising everybody to behave or risk his wrath.
His predecessor, Umar Manko, handed over the mantle of leadership of the zone to Mbu and immediately vacated office to embark on a course at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, Jos, Plateau State.
Shortly after the handing over formalities were over, Mbu told journalists that he had come to Lagos to do pure police job and nothing more than that, but added; “If people are saying that the fear of Mbu is the beginning of wisdom, I like that and that is why people should live an orderly life”.
He said further; “The two Commissioners of Police under my command should make sure that they do their job very well. My men and officers should make sure that they are disciplined and must not be lawless. We all must be organised. If you are a civilian, you must obey the law. If as a civilian you don’t obey the law, whatever your status, we will bring you down and we will take you to court but if you obey the law, we will not have problems with you.
“People say I have come to play a script but you have seen me today. Don’t forget that it is the same Mbu who was the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Police Command. This same Mbu, the State House of Assembly held a special session in honour of him and the Nigeria Police for a job well done. Lagosians should watch and see”.
