Mercy Aigbe Explain How She Keeps Her Marriage Going

Popular Nigerian actress Mercy Aigbe, 37, yesterday shared a video of a recent interview she had with Afrobeat Live.

In the interview Mercy Aigbe revealed one of the tricks in which she keeps her husband fixed on her always. “I wear bum shorts so all those toothpick girls will not snatch my husband” she said unabashedly in the interview that also featured fellow actress Adunni Ade.

This might come off humorous or even weird to some but this is one of the ways in which Mercy Aigbe keeps her marriage to Lanre Gentry going. As a matter of fact according to the actress her husband goes crazy when she wears bum shorts at home. “Anytime I wear shorts, my husband always trips so he likes having me around that’s just it” she disclosed in August 2015.

Within the last couple of years Mercy Aigbe has risen to be one of the hottest actresses in Nollywood. The mother of two is also one of the hottest in the movie business right now. Her rising profile has not affected her family life negatively as she dotes over her children and fusses over her husband.

The car dealer met Mercy Aigbe before she became a household name. During this period she was in a relationship with someone else. He was friends with her for a while and after Mercy Aigbe found out that her boyfriend had a wife in Ikorodu, the two started dating. Mercy Aigbe got married to Lanre Gentry in 2013.

Now a hard working mum Mercy Aigbe does not play with her marriage. She is conscious of the type of roles she plays and makes sure her husband is cool with it. “I can never act nude because it is against our culture and my beliefs…I was already an actress before I met my husband and he goes through my scripts” she said in 2016.

Cautious of the pressure on celebrity marriages Mercy Aigbe does her best to ensure that her marriage does not crash like many others. “Failed marriages are on the increase now, not just in Nollywood. Some people are not just ready to be married because it comes with its own challenges and people also get married for the wrong reasons” she told Naij in 2015.

Speaking further she said “Journalists need to know that people are wicked and will want to get back at someone out there; so, they should put their integrity in check before writing any story.”

Her marriage has had its few rocky moments but compared to many celebrity marriages Mercy Aigbe’s marriage is relatively stable. Over the years Mercy Aigbe has not shied away from how she spices things up in her marriage- bum shorts.
