A middle-aged man was allegedly shot dead by unknown gunmen around Okesa Roundabout in Ado Ekiti on Monday.
The victim, identified as one of the individuals issuing tickets to commercial motorcyclists in the area, was reportedly fired upon by assailants who arrived on another motorcycle.
Witnesses reported that the killers fled immediately after the attack.
Confirming the incident, Chairman of the Okada Riders Association in Ekiti State, Mr. Kunle Asaolu, stated that the deceased was a member of the association.
The Ekiti State Police Command also confirmed the attack through its spokesperson, DSP Sunday Abutu.
Abutu said an investigation has commenced to apprehend the culprits.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital morgue.
