Manchester United resigned Paul Pogba just to spite Sir Alex Ferguson, Patrice Evra has said. He recently revealed that he advised the midfielder to join Real Madrid instead, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, MUFC only brought Pogba back to humiliate SAF, and the deal was more commercial than anything on the pitch.
He added that he wanted Pogba to sign for Madrid but Florentino Perez didn’t want to pay big money.
His words, “Manchester United brought Paul Pogba back because they wanted to humiliate Sir Alex Ferguson. I told Paul to not go back because he wanted Real Madrid and Madrid wanted him, but Florentino Perez didn’t want to pay the money.
His agent called United, and he signed with him without telling me. The club was happy because they were selling shirts, you know the kids love Pogba – it was more commercial than anything on the pitch.”

That triumph allowed the club to compete in the European Super Cup for the first time, where United beat European Cup holders Red Star Belgrade 1–0 at Old Trafford. The club appeared in two consecutive League Cup finals in 1991 and 1992, beating Nottingham Forest 1–0 in the second to win that competition for the first time as well.
