president muhammadu buhariMinister of Information, Lai Mohammed has dismissed reports that President Muhammadu Buhari is ill.

Fresh speculations regarding the state of Buhari’s health arose on Wednesday, April 12, due to the president’s absence from the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

Mohammed however told State House correspondents at the end of the meeting that Buhari is hail and healthy.

He added that the president was carrying out other state functions during the FEC meeting.

The meeting was presided over by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.

“Mr President is not ill again. Mr. President is in town; Mr. President is attending to other issues. He looked at the agenda for the meeting and decided that the vice president should preside. It is not unusual for the vice president to preside over FEC meetings,” Mohammed said.

This is Buhari’s first absence from the weekly FEC meeting since his March 10 return to Nigeria from a 49-day medical vacation in London.

Buhari had said, on arrival in Nigeria, that he did not remember being so sick in all his life.
He also said that he would soon need follow-up treatment.

Meanwhile, the Presidency has said that Buhari will receive further treatment in London and not in Nigeria.

The clarification was made by Buhari spokesman, Garba Shehu on Thursday, March 30, in denial of reports that Buhari had decided to bring his doctors to Nigeria.
