President Muhammadu Buhari has begged Nigerian Muslims to avoid large gatherings and socializing as they start the Ramadan fast on Friday, April 24.
Buhari revealed that as they all practice self-denial, universal brotherhood, austerity, helping relatives, and needy people, every form of socializing remains a risk during the coronavirus outbreak.
According to him, this will not stop him from congratulating Muslims for seeing a new Ramadan year.
He added that the religious fast should not trigger the spread of the deadly virus, thus all instructions from the government should be obeyed.
His words, “I congratulate all Muslims as they commence this year’s Ramadan fast which is depicted by self-denial, universal brotherhood, austerity and helping relatives and needy people,”
“In this Ramadan period, the kind of socializing you are used to now risks spreading the coronavirus.”
